CHARLEEN MCDONALD Charleen Rae McDonald died March 12, 2008, at her home in Las Vegas at age 65. Charleen was born Feb. 9, 1943, in Fort Riley, Kan. She moved early in life to Boulder City, where she was raised, graduated from Boulder City High School, and met her husband, James Arthur (Jim) McDonald. They were married Oct. 13, 1962, and shortly moved to Las Vegas where they have lived ever since. Charleen was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1967. Jim was baptized shortly after, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple June 21, 1969. In her years, she remained faithful in the church and held continual positions of leadership in many auxiliaries at both ward and stake levels. She was always very dependable and could always be counted on for whatever was needed. She loved being surrounded by her family and worked very hard to keep their relationships close. Families were very important to Charleen, and she had a deep love for her own. She was a wonderful mother and instilled strong values in each of her five children. She enjoyed countless adventures with her family which included river rafting, camping, and boating. She and Jim also loved to travel and have experienced many parts of the world together. In her last years, she enjoyed spending much of her time working in the Las Vegas Temple along with Jim. She was preceded in death by her mother, Icie Nadine Niemeyer; and stepmother, Marie Marriott. She is survived by her husband, of 45 years, Jim; father, Edward Harwood Marriott; sister, Linda Kay Wirth; five children, James Arthur Jr. (Teresa) McDonald, Robert Dean (Wilaine) McDonald, Stacy Lynn (David) Grant, Heidi Rae (Bruce) Whitaker, Kodi Lynn (Adam) Carter; and 21 grandchildren, Loryn, Jake, Jim, Nick, Kenny, Mitch, Austin, Brad, Hannah, Braden, Mikayla, Dustin, Katie, Travis, Ammon, Caleb, Rebekah, Tyler, Abigail, Emily and Charlotte. She will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. March 17, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., and also from noon-1 p.m. March 18, at the Sloan & Alcott Chapel, 1707 S. Sloan, with services following at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery.
